BLACK POWER IS ACCEPTING YOUR BLACKNESS
By: Takuna Maulana EL Shabazz February 2016
Get on your mark! Get set! Pause! READY SET GO - BANG! February, Black History Month is upon us and for many Black individuals it is a scheduled safe time to act Black. A time in which a vast number of Black folks feel it's ok to express some form of Blackness without offending Caucasians for 28/29 days. Usually, this begin first with the denial of the terms 'Black History' and 'Black People' often substituting these references for more palatable expressions such as 'American History' and 'African American'. The point being there are still too many among us in the Black community that hypocritically purport to celebrate Black History Month without a proper knowledge of self and their Black ancestors. As an unnatural consequence they attempt to uplift Black values from a White European worldview under the auspices of being Black and progressive. However, in actuality they have been socially engineered to become the facilitators and managers of their own self-hatred. The fact remain; King Toms and Proud Queen Tommets and a host of mis-educated Black defectors cannot guide a Black people to cultural and historical wealth, clarity of self and prosperity. Especially, if that people have been socially engineered into cultural confusion, made historical insignificance, have become victims of economic exploitation and rendered politically impotent.
Cases and Points: 1) For Black people in Southwest Louisiana to attempt to celebrate Black History and ignore the cultural genocidal plot to destroy Black History and it's cultural in this region is criminally ignorant. To perpetually help finance and defend your oppressor's cultural and historical oppression over you is an egregious modern day slave behavior. Not, to know this is to suggest at best one has been mis-educated and at worst a fool! On the other hand, to know this to be factual and still allow it to go on unchallenged makes you a coward and a parasite to your own people! 2) How does one intelligently celebrate Black History at UL (University at Lafayette) home of the Ragin Cajuns and ignore the historical relationship of the two terms Cajun and Nigger being equivalent racial slurs? 3) Note, for a so-called Black man to fight to remove a racist statue from the downtown area in Lafayette, who is an active proponent for promoting Cajun, is convoluted. Mr. Greg Davis, who is also the proud Director of the Cajun/Nigger Dome, maybe in support of a righteous issue but he represent the height of hypocrisy. Mr. Davis currently refuses to remove or separate his personal identity from the Cajun label, the twin historical White derogatory slur term for Nigger. So, what logical argument can Mr. Davis present to Black people for being offended about the racist statue? If you are seeking to preserve cheese you don't put the rat in charge of the cheese house and intelligently expect to have cheese on the end of the day. By nature the rat will eat the cheese to satisfy his own appetite and greed. 4) What benefits will come to Black people from a weak spiritual alliance of so- called Black Pastors who still embrace the White man versions of Christianity? The fact that they chose to utilize the Cajun/Nigger Dome Convention Center, rather than one of their own effaces, to launch and celebrate their debut is a strong indication of their disconnect to Black values and reality! Well meaning good men and women with the best of intentions that relies on the White man's teachings of God and religion is a spiritual trap for Black people not salvation.
Evidence of resistance from some of the involved religious heads has already surfaced from the mere suggestion of identifying themselves as the Black Senior Pastoral Alliance. I suspect by the time this article comes out they would have dropped the word Black and become just the Senior Pastoral Alliance. This will leave the door open for White pastors to join the alliance without feeling left out or threaten with any Black liberation teachings. Ironically, not if but when White pastors do join they will not be expected to give up their white racist theology that was used to enslave Black people! In fact, most of the so-called Black Pastors will likely defend the white theology in the name of a White Jesus like an aggressive tap dancing, knee-slapping plantation 'House Nigger' protecting Massa with a spirit meaner then a junk yard dog! Let wait and see what the future bring!
The celebration of Black History is a daily commitment to the conscious Black community, for the least aware it has been reduce now to several events during the month of February, then it's back to business as usually. Real power for Black people is contingent on Black people first accepting the truth of their Black selves. Well, I can see some of the religious zealous jumping up and down, "Shouting no that's not right - God is first,” How can you know your creator if you reject what the creator created - Your Black self? There is real power in accepting your Black self! All creation of God must justify its worth by acting out of the nature it was created? God did not make niggers, giga boos, coons, colored people, mulatoes, Black Cajuns and Creoles. That 's what the white made of Black people when they took us into slavery!
Black history month celebrations are a time for Black people to show case their truth for the purpose of reflecting, teaching, inspiring, guiding, building, recovering and restoring a Black value system for future generations to be nurture by every day of the year. The bases of all we need and want as a people start with the knowledge of self. That includes our spiritual orientation, historical and culture relevance, our economics, social and political potency.
Dr. Amos Wilson said it best when he said, - To manipulate history is to manipulate consciousness – To manipulate consciousness is to manipulate POWER!” Its time to rise again Black man, Woman and Child and reclaim your original Greatness!
