Min. Farrakhan on Separation and Integration
In Separation There Is Unity
By Takuna Maulana EL Shabazz, C.C.B.E. Representative
The terms Unity and Separation on the surface appear to be diametrically opposing concepts. However, when applied for specific reasons under certain circumstances, separation is the only means to unity. Costly lessons of history regarding the interpretation of these two concepts should serve to instruct, as well as empower Black people to better analyze the present realties, in order that we may become wiser and ultimately the architect of our own destiny. Historically, our European oppressors in the application and understanding of both terms have fed Black people in America distorted views. Whereby, the mere mention of the concept "Separation" sets off a polarizing alarm for some Black people. It appears to suggest in their minds, racist intent and counterproductive behavior. For instance, the word separation among many Black people is immediately taken as a descriptive term advocating the birth of some strange mythical monster called re-verse racism. Proponents of this view often propagate anti-Christian or an anti-White attitude as the bases for their intolerance for having a meaningful dialog on separation. On the other hand the concept "Unity" is hypocritically and superficially romanticized. In truth the term unity is more often misused and abused rather than honestly valued and applied by those same individuals.
In effect, the concept of unity for many Black folks has become a misguided social, political and religious fixation by which Black people seek to prove that they can love everybody without first mastering the love of self and kind. This heighten state of abnormal behavior sustain and perpetuate an emotional attitude of resistance in Black people not to strive for group unity and self-love. Under this delusional pattern of thinking it appear to be more Godly behavior to become a sacrificial lamb, seeking love and acceptance from the open enemies of Black people, rather than to make personal sacrifices to cultivate the collective self worth of the Black family. Consequently, the energy in which some Black folks spend attempting to find ways to love White people as a means to justify and confirm their own humanity is abnormal and slavish behavior. To change that behavior one must separate from the forces that either produces or maintain such a condition.
Broadly speaking, that's where 95 per cent of our trouble as a people reveals itself. Many of us talk of freedom, justice and equality but are quick to qualify the Black Liberation Movement under the banner of Americanism. At that point the objective becomes clear! One should strive to be an American pursuing the elusive American Dream. This is more palatable to our damaged psychic, then advocating being Black and African in America. That is, taking the responsibility to carve out a course of self-determination creating conditions to produce our own dreams. The situation is paradoxical in that on the one hand we justify or pacify slavish behavior then get upset with White people for treating us like modern day slaves. At the root of all of our ills as Black people lies our refusal or inability to accept our natural Black selves. Regardless, it is only when we can collectively accept our natural Black selves, that we will be able to emit the natural God forces in us to elevate self and kind. This is the cause of our economic, social, political, educational and spiritual confusion, divisions and ineffectiveness.
Since this condition of self-hate was induced in Black people by our European oppressors, our only chance as a Black people to recover fully as a people, is to separate from the demonic forces which sustains and maintains self-hatred in us. For Black people not to do so is unintelligent and relegates us to being managers and facilitators of our own oppressed condition. Realistically though, the average Black man and woman, no matter how much hell they are catching from White people and their racist systems, would frown if not outright reject the idea of separating from Europeans as a solution. For those who reject such an idea in these turbulent times, just observe for a moment God's unfolding plans before your eyes, in spite of your ignorance and fear of Caucasians. I need not describe the attitude and fear of the miss-educated so-called professional and skilled Black Men and Women who are delusional and in hot pursuit of the American dream!
To most Black people the idea of separating from White people means only physical separation. In some cases it can mean just that but not necessarily so. Before any physical separation is possible, a separation of the minds much come first! We must reclaim our ability to view, treat, accept, produce, create and defend our collective interest as a people from an authentic Black and Afrikan mind. In brief, we must divorce ourselves from the ways and thinking of Caucasians and accept our Black selves. Black people must resist European Colonialism in all its forms in order to heal self.
However, I am fully aware that this kind of talk for too many of us, still sounds like hate talk and certainly is most likely perceived as un-Christian to some. To those who share that view, I say respectfully, take the time to re-educate yourself to the truth of your God , history and the devil. The time for such foolish talk and slavish behavior is up! The time is not up because I said so! But, time is up according to Allah's (God) time clock as prophesied in scripture. It is time for Black people to rise up from a state of ignorance (a mental death) to a greater knowledge of self, in preparation to embrace our responsibilities as a Black people and reclaim our original greatness. Brothers and Sisters study Genesis 15: 13 & 14 in your bible. That bible massage is talking about me and you here in the wilderness of America. It reads, " The Lord said to Abraham: 13) Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs; and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14) And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance." (Bible-King James Version)
No other people's history fit that biblical description better than the history of Black people in America. It's a fact that White people kidnapped Black people from Afrika over 450 years ago and enslaved them for free labor to build America. This accounts for the first part of the above scriptural passage. The second part of that passage states clearly that the enslaved people will not remain as slaves but will rise from that condition and become a great people at an appointed time. Third, God will bring judgment down on the enslavers for their mistreatment of the people they enslaved! However, there must be an acknowledgement of time by both people for this change. A proper understanding of this biblical passage will guide Black people to a better understanding of the great separation that both the Bible and Holy Quran speaks of.
In spite of what the many slave religions of Europeans have ingrained in the minds of Black people, the concept of separation to achieve unity is not new. In fact, it is a part of Jesus' (Yeshua) teaching to us in the so-called King James Version of the bible that many of you claim you live by. Read Matthew 11:34, 35, and 36. Bear in mind this is Jesus (Yeshua) talking! "(34) Do not suppose that my mission on this earth is to spread peace. My mission is spread not peace, but division. (35) I have come to set a man at odds with his father, a daughter with her mother, a daughter in-law with her mother in-law; (36) in short, to make a man's enemies those of his own household." Again in Matthew 10: 5- 8 Jesus instructed his disciples to teach separation! These twelve Jesus sent forth saying, "Go not in the way of the Gentiles (White folks) and into the city of the Samaritans ( Caucasians), enter ye not. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Black people). And as you go, preach saying; The Kingdom is at hand." ( It's time for your rise.)
Jesus (Yeshua) is not teaching hate in the above passages! He is firmly stating that the truth he represents will cause separation because there will be those who will believe and live accordingly and there will be rejecters of the truth. In the second scripture Jesus (Yeshua) reveals his Black Nationalist agenda. His purpose and objective were to bring Black people back in the knowledge of themselves, God, and the devil to re-establish the Black Nation.
The idea that the Black Jesus (Yeshua) of the bible loved everybody stems from slavery teachings on the plantations. The White slave owners taught that to their enslaved Blacks to protect themselves from possible retaliation due to their brutal treatment of them! Still today the fear of White people, miss- education and the confusion of who is God, prompt many of us to resolve our conflicts with White people, by simply praying to a fictitious White Jesus for strength and forgiveness! On the other hand, we are the biggest destroyers of each other with a church of some kind on nearly every block in Black communities, in which we attend faithfully every Sunday to hear about the White man's Jesus.
The concept of the great separation is rooted in freeing us from the Caucasians' unjust economic, social, political, education, religious and racist systems. The time of the great separation refers to a time in which all of God's truth will be known and will be separated from all falsehood and half truths. In other words, the universal righteous laws of Allah (God) must rule the earth again. That means the unrighteous forces which presently rule the earth must be removed. It further means that the manifestation of those righteous laws will be seen in the original Black people to serve as a model and guide for all righteous peoples of the earth. How else do you explain the bible passage, "As it was in the beginning so shall it be in the end." The beginning refers to a peaceful time before the rebellious germ in the Black Man was given life in the form of the Caucasians (Europeans or White man) 6,000 years ago. The end refers to the destruction of the European's 6,000 years of unrighteous rule over the earth. We are in the time of the destruction of that unrighteous world right now! Both Bible and Holy Quran teaches that the consequences will be destruction or removal of all those who does not submit their will to do the will of God. This is not about skin color or religion. Allah (God) is not small minded, trite or silly! So, don't go there with me. Counted among the rejecters of Allah's (God) universal laws of righteousness will be white, black, yellow, brown and any colors in between who refuses to let go of the devilish ways in which this present world is being governed.
Therefore, for Black people to desire to separate themselves today from the ways, behaviors and mindset of Europeans is an act of intelligence, not hate! Especially, since most White people in America represent the children of the former slave owners of our fore mother and fathers. Like it or not, as the children of former slave masters, they are the beneficiaries of the mis-deeds done against our ancestors by their ancestors. Judging from the lack of economic and political power and the overall declining condition of Black people in America today; I don't think White folks gave much of the stolen goods and services back. The point that we must get through our thick skulls, is that they won't nor will they share equally with us. If the Caucasian leaders of the United states were not of the same minds of their fore parents, they would have seen fit years ago to have granted Black people Reparations out of a sense of justice. Reparations are the compensations owed to us by the U.S. Government, in the form of money, land and access to all natural and human resources which are necessary, to repair ourselves from the damages inflicted on Black people during slavery. The truth is the U.S. Government will not grant us reparations until we develop the wisdom to produce the power to demand it.
Under the present racist circumstances in America, Black people must come to realize that they can't truly address the interest of Black people and serve the interest of White people at the same time. Clearly, the means to the end are diametrically opposing to each other. White America will permit Black people to achieve nearly any goal he or she desire today, even president of the United States. However, the catch is Black people must reflect White American values as the foundation of their achievements or they will be rejected. That's not freedom or real progress! That is the modern day approach of upgrading the Nigger making process of slave making, to produce and then get maximum use out of highly skilled and talented Black people with no aspiration for self- determination. The reality is, Black people cannot change that condition as long as we are dependent on White people for food, clothing, shelter and protection. Black people must continue to organize to do for self and accept the responsibilities and risk of hardship for real change.
Finally, let no deceitful Europeans or frightened miss- educated Negroes, tell you again that the concept of separation is reverse racism or a form of Black hate against White people. Even if it was so, Black people have a stronger case to justify hating White people then we do wasting time and effort trying to manufacture reasons to love them! Nonetheless, the concept of separation is valid and is used every day to produce, peace, unity, and protection. For instance, children are separated from their parents when child abuse is suspected. That's not an attack on parenthood, but an expression of love and protection for children. Therefore, for Black people to want to separate from an abusive and unrighteous government is not an act of hate but an act of self-love and common sense. A married couple is granted a legal separation or divorce by the court on the bases of irreconcilable differences. Separation sometimes is the only solution to best protect the interest of all involved. At least until justice and righteousness are restore to that family unit by way of reconciliation.
Furthermore, you can separate your mind (thinking and ways) from White people and still be in their physical presence. You can work with them and be polite without reducing yourself to slavish behavior. That's only civilized and matured behavior! This does not negate the fact that Black people need time separate and apart from their White oppressors to heal from the many psychological wounds of slavery which serves as the gateway for much of our physical destruction of each other. There is no other means by which Black people can regain their balance as a collective. We must re-learn the truth of our history, culture and God to become whole again.
In separation there is unity! Just ask White folks what circumstances and terms the United State originated out of. The facts of history will confirmed that the United State was born out of a conflict between two groups of Europeans, whereas separation was the resolve! Thirteen tiny British colonies separated from the mighty British Empire in 1776. Among their reasons for separating were taxation without representation, misuse and abuse of their public interest and welfare by King George of Britain. Some scholars noted that the thirteen colonies was also upset with the British Empire for not assisting them to kill the indigenous people (so-called Indians) quickly enough. As a consequence, these thirteen tiny colonies separated from Britain and declared themselves a sovereign nation, The United States. That's what the 4th of July is all about for White people in America. It is the celebration of their Independence or Separation from another group of White folks to create the United States. They told the powerful British Empire give me Liberty or give me Death! I can only surmise, it must be due to the lack of knowledge of this part of history as to why so many Black folks celebrate the 4th of July with White folks. We certainly didn't demand anything from anyone! We were promised freedom by both sides if we participated in the war. However, Black people were plunged neck deep back into slavery after the war. This is in spite of the fact that many Blacks fought and died in that conflict on both sides for the freedom of White people in America and Britain.
Still, today Black people are truly not free to the full extent of the word in America. Obviously, most of the so-called Black leadership is not crying out as of yet, "Give me Liberty or Give me Death!" It's more to the tune of "Give me a job, food stamps and the right to vote for no body." And, If you don't give me what I want Mr. White Man I'll get angry with you and organize a march to beg for it! The foolishness must stop! In scripture, Allah promises to separate us from our open enemy regardless of whether or not we accept his divine plan for doing so! He will fill hell with all who rejects the truth.
